Allergy Season: Breath Easy with Halo Salt Therapy

It's September in Philadelphia again and that means allergy season is back in full swing. That's right! The excitement of sweater weather on the horizon is balanced out by the impending inability to breath through both nostrils; As the crispy, red and yellow leaves float their way to crunch under our toes...the allergies float their way into our nose, and so starts the fall itchy, sneezy season.

But don't worry! This year, Halcyon Floats has just the thing can help you combat your fall allergies with ease, while improving your sleep and overall respiratory health: Halo Salt Therapy.

Halo salt therapy, also known as halotherapy or dry salt therapy, is a complementary therapy that involves inhaling microscopic salt particles in a controlled environment. This natural treatment can help relieve symptoms for various respiratory conditions, including allergies. Here's how halo salt therapy can help with allergies:

  1. Anti-inflammatory Properties: Salt has natural anti-inflammatory properties, and inhaling salt particles may help reduce inflammation in the airways. Allergic reactions often involve inflammation in the respiratory system, leading to symptoms like sneezing, coughing, and congestion. By reducing this inflammation, halo salt therapy may provide relief from these symptoms.

  2. Mucus Clearance: Inhaling salt particles may help thin and loosen mucus in the airways. This can be beneficial for individuals with allergies because it can make it easier to expel mucus and alleviate symptoms like nasal congestion and post-nasal drip.

  3. Antimicrobial Effects: Salt has natural antimicrobial properties, and the salt particles in halo therapy booths may help kill or inhibit the growth of bacteria and fungi in the respiratory system. This could potentially reduce the risk of respiratory infections that can exacerbate allergy symptoms.

  4. Relaxation and Stress Reduction: Salt therapy rooms are often designed to provide a relaxing and stress-reducing environment. Stress can exacerbate allergy symptoms, so the calming atmosphere of a salt room may indirectly help alleviate allergic reactions.

  5. Improved Breathing: Some individuals with allergies may experience improved breathing after halo salt therapy sessions. This can be attributed to the combination of the factors mentioned above, such as reduced inflammation, clearer airways, and relaxed respiratory muscles.

Halcyon Floats offer a private, one person Halo Salt Therapy booth for a safe and efficient environment to receive the healing benefits of this simple, yet effective, therapy. While there is no prescribed salt therapy regimen as each person is different, we suggest starting with at least two 20-minute sessions a week to get a baseline and then use as needed from there. The therapy simply requires you sit and breath normally in our salt booth for 20 minutes while you take in the salty air and let it do it's work. Sessions should be booked in advance to reserve your time, and packages are available to make the service as accessible as possible to our clients. As always, please drop your questions in the comments!
